Step 3: Follow the script
Hello, I am student at [your campus] and I am/might be pregnant and do not want to be. I want to schedule an appointment for medication abortion services. What appointments do you have available? I understand that most insurance plans in California (including UC SHIP) will cover medication abortion at no cost to me, as long as I receive these services from a provider in my insurance plan network. Can you help me schedule an appointment or determine where I can get these services for free?
Step 4: Schedule an appointment
Choose a time that’s convenient for you. Your student health center will be able to refer you to other providers if the times and days they have available are not good for you.
Step 5: Show up to your scheduled appointment
Feel free to bring a supportive friend or family member. Take the 2 prescribed medication abortion pills and follow the after-care instructions provided. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your student health center afterward if you have questions, any health concerns, or would like additional follow up services. Exercise your legal right to receive medication abortion services at your campus.
